I found myself sitting there with a brew listening to somebody talk on the radio about the potential start of blackouts and what we should be doing as individuals, communities and as a country. Now I have to be honest that my trust in anybody or any organisations pushing any narrative has been completely lost. It all just appears to be who can make the most money through some sort of fraudulent manner and or a corrupt system pushing their agenda with us the people footing the bill time and time again!
Yes. I do believe that we all as individuals have to change certain aspects of our lives to protect this planet and our heritage. Especially with some being hellbent on ruining certain industries in terms of progress and sustainability. It goes without saying in my eyes that one of the changes we need to make is to take a step back a few decades (where possible) and support our homegrown industries. One of the main being the farmer! We have all seen the slogan, NO Farmers No Food and this is what terrifies me the most!
What happens when all the farms have lost their flocks, arable land, and in some cases their homes that have been maintained and run by themselves and their family for generations before? I presume it goes back to the landowner whoever that may be for planting trees, rewilding etc. That all sounds lovely yet catastrophic in decades to come as that slogan, NO Farmers, NO Food will well and truly bite us all.
So when this thought passed through my cavernous skull, I contacted a few Gamekeeper and farming friends who I go beating for and asked them: If we were to support an organisation who would it be? Every single one of them said The National Gamekeepers Organisation! With me being me, I phoned them that day and explained what we had in mind to which they passed me the details for our regional NGO rep, John Clarke.
Well…..He could not have been a nicer guy. This was before I had even mentioned what I had in mind (Cavernous skull). John's knowledge in gamekeeping, farming, land management, and wildlife is vast. Myself and Mrs Gundog Gear could have listened and chatted to him for hours - especially as we both seem to be on the same line of thinking on a whole range of topics.
Taking into account both Gundog Gear and our main business Pet Shack Pet Deli, if things carry on in the countryside the way they appear to be getting pushed towards, then both our businesses will disappear. No Farmers, No Meat. No Farmers, No Land. No farmers, No Gamekeepers. No Farmers, No Country sports. This terrifies me just as much as No Food.
When explaining this to John, the guy on the front line, he shared our fears and asked how would you like to try and get involved with the NGO? Simple I told him…Monetary donations. I'm not clever enough or knowledgeable enough to do what you guys do so a donation is something we can do on a monthly basis. John was delighted with our offer and stated that any amount of donation would be welcomed with open arms.
So the crux of the blog is that Gundog Gear will now be donating a percentage of all sales to The National Gamekeepers Organisation. This is not going to be easy for us a small Husband and Wife team (Mrs Gundog Gear is small. Myself, Mr Gundog Gear, not so) but if we don't pay it forward then we can't complain when things get bad! However, I do truly believe that with the likes of the NGO and similar organisations continuing their great work that great outcomes are ahead for our gamekeepers, farmers, wildlife and countryside. No matter what is being rammed down our throats via MSM and social media.
So please help us to help The National Gamekeepers Organisation!
There for you ONLINE & INSTORE. There WITH you in the field! GUNDOG GEAR
