The Dummy Launcher has long been a basic tool of retriever training having the benefit of accustoming the Dog to the sound of gun fire with the dropping at distance of a bird , using different loads can alter the distance the dummy will fly ranging from 40 to about 80meters dependent on the charge and dummy weight/style . Dummy blanks are available in a range of powers . For beginner dogs the lower power blank will be ideal sending the dummy approx. 40 plus without to loud a bang for the dog or recoil for the user ,thus teaching the dog the gunfire usually means the start of some much loved retrieving and will aid in teaching the dog to mark after gunfire anything that may fall from the heavens, as the dogs confidence and skill increases the more powerful medium blanks will send the dummy or dummy's up to 85 meters with a louder bang .
